Doesn’t the public make their own decisions anymore?
Is the advertisment media completely the blame for why people waste their money on things we really didn’t need anyway?
I agree that it is pretty tricky how these companies are placing the names and logos of their products right in front of the public eye in every day places and situations. It can get pretty ridiculous where you can find them now a days. Although, doesn’t the public actually decide if they really want them or the lifestyles they encourage?
My point is that no advertisement via radio, TV or magazine can make us give our money to them. We all knowingly make these decisions. Sure they may influence us, but isn’t it our own personal responsibility to make wise choices with our own money?
I am one to question everything so please feel free to comment on this subject.

When consumerism is made into a way of life, and companies use emotion to drive sales its tough not to buy useless things. Its becoming inescapable!

But what if your ideas about personal responsibility are also shaped by the media, like your characters in your favorite shows? And those characters also influence the people around you too.
But it’s always good to question and keep an open, active mind!

You are correct. We have the choice to say Yes or no if we want to. I think the reason why we say yes instead of no, is because these ads know just where to hit us. They are using psychology to make us give in. This is where our other side has to come in. Did you know that conpulsive shopping may be if is not already, considered as an adiction? Well, it is good to advertise but not in a way that is going to make a person an addict. some, if not Most people, have fallen into this state.

I feel like advertisements have a lot of sneaky ways to sell us their products. I am certain that we are exposed to media, even when we don’t know it. I heard that during a movie, they will flash a coke while the film is running but that it will be so fast that we won’t realize it, but will suddenly want a coke and not really know why. Of course we always always have a choice, but they are definitely putting up a good fight.
